Teaching Over a Cliff By Savannah Beck

March 27, 2019 - 2019 Operation: Sapna

After many hours of travel, I can’t believe I am actually here in India! Mom- I know you’ve been so worried and I’m glad to tell you we’ve made it safely! Today we had our second day teaching in our village school. Our school is way up in the middle of the Himalayas with the most amazing view I’ve ever seen. It seems like we are hanging on a cliff. I can see the snow capped mountains that seem to be pretty close by. The roads here are insane! (Dad- it reminds me of the going-to-the-sun- road in Montana but 10x skinnier and a lot more turny) The road to our school is so sketchy that we have to walk into the school for about 20 minutes. The kids are so cute and are so eager to learn and love to help me out; from putting my lesson away to helping me take pictures. I think that 90% of the storage on my camera is from the pictures that the kids have taken. They love to laugh at me when I try and pronounce their names. They are also very respectful- they call me “Savannah Ma’am” and touch our feet in the morning which is a sign of honor. Our headmistress is named “BB” and she is such a sweetheart and makes sure we are being taken care of. My experience has been amazing so far and the kids are the cutest little things ever!! Love you guys!!
