Sorry Mom, I Won’t be Coming Home

November 24, 2017 - 2017 Operation Sukhi

Hi everyone!! Especially hi to my family on this Thanksgiving Day! I miss you all so much but I’m having so much fun and learning so much. I love all of these people even though I barely know them. It makes me so sad to think that I only have a couple days left, but I am cherishing every moment I have with them. The village my team has been assigned to is called Umapatur. These people are so giving and it has been such a humbling experience to see the lives they live. The school is just a room with a tin roof, but it’s filled full everyday with over 100 kids. They are so crazy and I love being able to play with them! But, the village tours are my favorite part. The people of the village invite us into their homes and give us food and offer us thanks. At almost every house I get emotional because I just remember how lucky I am to have what I have and to be here in India with these people who I love so much. After the village we go to the Main Day Boarding School. I LOVE THIS PLACE. The girls are crazy and give me hugs and kisses all day long. Playing with them and teaching them has been so rewarding because it reminds me of all the hard work that went into this before I got here was 100% worth it. We are helping them more than I can comprehend sometimes. I’m so grateful for the chance I have be given to be here with them and become BFFs with every one of them. Today at the end of teaching and saying goodbye for the day, I started to cry thinking about how much I am going to miss all of these girls. They are so thankful for everything we are doing for them and giving them a chance at a better future. I am not ready to leave them so I won’t be leaving on Tuesday!!!! SORRY MOM;) But for real I’m having the time of my life over here and I’m not ready to leave. YMAD has taught me so much more than I can ever comprehend or even express. I can’t wait to tell you all more when I get home! Happy Thanksgiving and see you all soon 🙂 – Kamryn :)))
