What Life and Fundraising has Been Like During These Crazy Times…By: Lauren Phillips

May 21, 2020 - 2020 Operation Prerna

The whole quarantine thing and social distancing thing was kinda crazy. I guess no one really prepared us how to live through a global pandemic. I was lost for words trying to describe it. At first, the whole quarantine thing was more of a dark, gloomy, and scary feeling not knowing what was going to happen next. Eventually as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months, things started to improve. My family drew closer, I slept more, and life slowing down was probably what I needed the most. I am grateful to be apart of YMAD and learning that no matter what life throws our way, we are always able to rise above and meet each challenge with a positive attitude. At the beginning of May, I picked up my fundraising efforts when I received a donation of cloth face-masks that I could sell to local businesses and community members. Honestly, I would’ve never expected to benefit from life slowing down and it has ultimately made me appreciate the small things such as going to school, seeing people outside of my family, and hugging other people. -Lauren Phillips
