We made it to Jaipur – Robert Baird

November 29, 2013 - All Posts, 2013 Operation: Roshni

After cleaning up the YMAD house in Chamba we set out on the long windy road to Pathankot to catch the night train.   At 7:00 pm we boarded the train and got everyone settled for the 9 hour ride to Delhi.  The night train is quite an experience!  The trains are well used and the bathrooms are a good excuse to hold it for twelve hours.  Most of the team got a good nights rest on the train.  We arrived in Delhi at 5:30 am and boarded our bus to Jaipur.  The first stop was McDonalds for breakfast!  Hot cakes, egg McMuffins and McFlurreys were the hot items on the menu!  The best thing about McDonalds is they have clean bathrooms with western toilets.  What a welcome relief!
We arrived in Jaipur at 3:30 pm and everyone was excited to take a hot shower and freshen up a bit from traveling.  We spent a few hours in the market shopping and then had dinner at an italian restaurant before heading back to the hotel.  Can you tell that the team has had enough Indian food and is ready for a welcome change. We will be up early in the morning to ride elephants up to the Amber Fort and then we head for Agra and the Taj Mahal.  These kids are so fun to travel with. There is never a dull moment!
