“First there is a Mountain, Then there is no Moutain, then there is” By: Owen Jenkins

November 25, 2019 - 2019: Operation Parivar

Man this has been crazy. I feel like I’ve been here for months, but I can’t believe we’re already getting close to leaving. It’s been so sick being here and I will love India always and forever.

We had a two day break from teaching which was very nice and needed but it was also sad not seeing the kids those days. We took the coolest hike of my life. We went up this mountain and we saw all these other cool mountains in the distance. Then we went through a cool gate and went to an awesome temple. We took off our shoes and the inside was filled with smoke incense. They put the dots on our foreheads and have a bracelets.

Then we went to the other side of the temple and oh my goodness it was the sickest thing I’ve seen in my life. The view of everything was so dope with the mist and everything and there were cows everywhere. We took pictures and relaxed for half an hour then we started heading down. We saw a shop and I bought a necklace for like 40 cents or something like that. Then we got back and had a yoga session with an instructor guy which was neat but also a bit of a struggle.

It’s been an awesome time just being with the group. A lot of the people like the same stuff that I do which is awesome. Like yesterday I was saying that Avatar is the greatest show of all time because it is, then Aidan starts talking and saying it’s his favorite too. Then Oakland pops in and we all just needed out for like 10 minutes. Stuff like that has happened all the time during the trip and it’s been awesome.

We went back to the school today and I have believe we’re only seeing the kids one more time. I was the group leader today so I wasn’t teaching any lessons. I mostly took pictures and helped out some of the groups calm down. The kids today we’re crazy. They are so used to us now so they mess around way too much. Our group was crazy tired today but they

were champs and taught the stuff they needed to. The kids are still the greatest and I love them all. We had a dance party today and that was fun. Vikrant is better at dancing than anyone else ever. We gave the kids sweaters and shoes today which was awesome. We finished off the mural completely now so the monkey doesn’t have demon eyes anymore and all the kids got their handprints on it. I’m so sad we’re leaving so soon because it’s been so great in all the ways. I am super excited to get some Chick fil A when I get home though.
