Finding Family On the Other Side of the World (Kenzie Morris)

PB240632As time goes by, I grow closer and closer to the children of India. We are creating bonds with each other that will last forever. But as we grow closer, our time also shortens. Today, I had to say goodbye to our ashram kids. I cried the entire drive home. My life has been touched by their presence. They are the sweetest children who love to play and laugh. Their smiles are contagious. I’ve learned so many things from those boys. Ranging from cricket to becoming a kinder person. I am so thankful for the chance I got to meet those boys. Their memory will be with me forever.
When we returned to the YMAD house that night, we were greeted by the other groups of our expedition who had had the same difficult experience. We hugged, cried, and comforted each other. This group is my family; they make being away from home for so long easier.
Tomorrow, being Thanksgiving in America, I would like mention how grateful I am for the life I’ve been given. I am thankful for the opportunity I have to obtain an education. I am thankful for equal rights for women in America. I am thankful for the safety I have at home. I am grateful for parents who nag me, and care about me. I am grateful for siblings that drive me insane, but still love me. I am grateful for my loving friends who support me in everything I do. I miss you all and love you so much. I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving!

Sending Love,

Kenzie
