November 25, 2019 - 2019: Operation Parivar
It is sad to think that our time here in India is coming to an end. Yesterday we woke up early and hiked passed our schools to a temple. We walked around and felt like we were in the Sound of Music. The view from the top was one of the most amazing thing that I have ever seen. We had a yoga master help us stretch our tired bodies and rejuvenate us a little. Downward facing dog anyone. Last night we had the privilege of having a meeting on gratitude. We got in a circle and took turns saying what we had learned during our YMAD time and what we are grateful for. I was able to see a little more into everyone’s soul and it helped me feel like I know them a little bit more. After, we were surprise with letters from our family and loved ones. It was nice to read them and feel a little part of home.
I am amazed at the change that I have seen in the teens from my village team from the time that they were interviewed for the expedition in January to this last week at Chinsari. They have grown to love the sweet kids with their whole heart and have left a little piece of themselves here. The teens have strengthened their compassion for the kids at the school and gratitude for the things that they have. It has helped them realize what is really important.
Brooke has a special quality of being able to involve everyone in the group and bring everyone together. Aidan has a passion for being in the moment and soaking the experience up. Toni is genuine and sincere with what she says and does. Tyler is a natural leader and has a love for this country. Lilly is so fun to be around and makes every situation a party. Oakland has a positive, happy energy about him and is always smiling.
Ashley and Allison have gone above and beyond to make this experience run smoothly, for the kids to have a memorable experience and to be better leaders through this journey. They are amazing. Jake the Medic has taken care of us all. He has helped us get over stomach issues, sinus colds and treated a cut on my hand.
This experience to India has forever changed me. It has helped me to see the beauty that the world has to offer. No matter where you are, you can find things that are breathtakingly beautiful. It has taught me to be more generous. Whether you have a lot or a little to give, just give. You can do so much good not only in the world but in the community that we live.
