“Come to learn, Go to Serve”- Dylan Cooley

May 9, 2018 - 2018 Operation: Tyaggi

First of all! I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to be here in India! India is nothing like I expected it to be before coming. I never knew how rich culture is and how amazing the people are! In my short time I have learned about love and acceptance from these amazing people! During the 47 hours traveling I had a lot of time to think about my reasons why I came and what I was expecting to get out of this trip.

I came down to two conclusions, the first was my main reason to come to the trip was to learn and help people and the second is that I wanted to learn more about myself and this amazing world. Helping people has been amazing and the kids have been great to teach, but most of all they have taught me so much in the little time we spent here so far.

My favorite phrase of the week is on the door to get into the school. It says “come to learn, go to serve” I love it because it I so simple. I have learned so much about being able to better myself and be the best I can be to help other people and lift others up to become their best. Through this simple process amazing things can translate from everyone. Again I am so grateful for this opportunity and for the time that we have to be here I have embrace the culture and I’m learning to love more each day. I’m Excited for this amazing journey and I cannot wait to see what my takeaways will be by the end. Thank you everyone that has supported me and I will talk to you later
