Things I’ve learned About Being an Intern

Katy Rupe

  • There’s perks to being considered an “adult”
  • Kids don’t listen to you when you’re only 3 years older…
  • Don’t wear flip flops when you go to the school with the 20 minute hike up the Himalayas
  • Who needs luggage?
  • You still get Diet Coke when you’re a leader
  • When Marci goes on runs, make sure she doesn’t lock you in #roomieprobs
  • Wake up early enough for the ginger and mint tea
  • The chai is still as good up north
  • Walk by people who will help you down the mountain, thanks Taylor for takin’ care of your elders
  • You still get nervous on the first day of school
  • How have I not had Maggie noodles?!
  • Patience is a virture
  • Its even better to watch the changes that you see in the YMAD teens than experiencing them yourself
  • Motion sickness is real
  • My roomie is better than yours, right Marci?
  • Always have at least 2 pens on hand
  • How did I forget about I.S.T. (Indian Standard Time)?!
  • Holi can get me grumpy but a hot shower can turn it around. Sorry Baby JJ.
  • The kids are just as cute and sweet as West Bengal
  • I love India this trip as much as I did my expedition
  • I never knew I would get 30 new best friends
