Never Did I Ever…: Lexi

My Indian journey started about a week ago, and I’m so glad I FINALLY get to blog! Don’t worry Mason and Jnix, I haven’t been kidnapped, so no need for a search party, yet! So many crazy and amazing things have happened, so I’ll give you a list of things I never would have expected to happen:

Never did I ever think BOTH of my bags wouldn’t show up to India with me

Never did I ever think I’d have to wear the same underwear for four days straight (don’t worry, I now change them regularly)

Never did I ever think I’d be able to survive in a room with 17 moody as heck girls (no offense I love you all, but we can all be pretty bratty at times)

Never did I ever think I’d have to make my best friend be my mother and french braid my hair every day (thanks Jess I love you)

Never did I ever think I’d fall in love with 100 kids on my first day teaching

Never did I ever think I’d become so attached to them all so quickly

Never did I ever think I’d already be planning the next time I can come to India because I love them so much

Never did I ever think I’d want to stay in India forever just so I can see these kids everyday

Never did I ever think there were so many fathers, mothers and families who would love us and appreciate us so much, even though they’ve just met us

Never did I ever think I’d get so many blessings and beautiful bouquets of flowers given to me just because I’m here in India, doing what I love to do (ps I’ve received more flowers from these children in the past four days than I have from anybody in my entire life.. STEP IT UP BOYS!)

Never did I ever think I would cry while singing “You are my Sunshine” to a room full of children

Never did I ever think I would find these insanely dangerous car rides fun

Never did I ever think I’d jam so hard to Indian music and Baby by Justin Bieber in a Tata with my amazing team (huge shoutout to our drive, Misolit for being the best DJ out there)

Never did I ever think I’d subconsciously start talking in an Indian accent ALL THE FREAKING TIME!

Never did I ever think I’d be able to memorize all 19 of my boarding school girls’ names (btw Mahima, Riya and Ranisha are my absolute favorite girls in the world)

Never did I ever think I’d get so so many hugs and cheek kisses from all these girls. They are so darn sweet it kills me

Never did I ever think I’d be called Laxme by tons of girls

These are only some of the things that have happened and I can’t wait to tell you all more! Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE BROTHER ZACKY I LOVE YOU <3

Xoxo, Lexi
