Driver: *Brakes* Me: *Face plants under the seat* by Dyani Graves

As I walked up the trail of stairs to the school, I could hear the kids singing their prayer song and I got goosebumps. It was such a surreal experience to finally meet the kids I have been waiting to meet for 9 months. Who knew how much a cute little face with big brown eyes could change your life… I was very nervous to start teaching, but after the translator came in and explained to the children what we there for they lit up. After my village team ate lunch we went down to play with the kids before classes started again. All of the kids kept jumping on all of us teens and we spun them around.

I was very surprised at how much the older kids knew because YMAD has been to their school before. One thing that I realized while teaching was that I needed to be flexible with my lessons and accommodate it to the different age groups. It was a beautiful first day and I look forward to going back tomorrow well except for maybe the bus ride…
