LETTER WRITING PARTY
By: Grace Bergstedt
On Sunday, April 14, the letter writing party took place at Clara Larsen’s house. We all
gathered at her house to take part in a very important part of our fundraising, letter writing. At the party, we were given examples of several letters that have been written in the past by others, in which they asked for donations for their humanitarian trip. Most examples included a picture of the children in India, and explained why they need the money, and where it will be going. We were given tips on what kind of content to put in our letters, such as: why we want to go to India, what we will be doing to raise the money, the work we are willing to do, and how much we need to raise. This was really useful as most of us weren’t sure what we should say. We soon got an idea of how we wanted to format our letters, and we all started writing. Everyone talked while they wrote, and it was a success! We even had a chocolate fountain to top it all off!
Writing these letters not only helped us in our fundraising for YMAD, but also in our life. We can take these skills, and apply them in other times in our lives, as we may need to raise money in the future for jobs, organizations, and more. We also acquired some skills in writing and learned how to make our letters as best as possible! Thank you to everyone who came!
