Blood, Sweat, and Tears By Megan Green
Every day I find myself saying, “today is my favorite day” or “today is the best.” But then the next day comes and goes and I think it was also definitely the best and my favorite. I don’t know if it’s possible, but every day here is the best and my favorite. There are so many things I could say and so many experiences I could talk about on this blog because every moment is something new and exciting. I’ll try to write enough to give India the appreciation it deserves, but I’m not sure if I can or will ever be able to find the right words. I guess to start, I have been giving 200% to the kids in my school. I’ve put in my blood, sweat, and tears into serving these people. Literally. Playing with the kids is incredible but also so exhausting. So much so that my nose started bleeding during freeze dance harder than I’ve ever had before. But don’t worry, our headmistress, Bibi, took care of me. She pulled me into her office and stuffed both my nostrils with tissues and then poured cold water on my head and down my back. It was so cute! All the kids were worried, but I told them I was ok and suddenly they all wanted tissues in their noses too. Also, the walk to and from school is very draining. We named one section of our hike Heartbreak Hill because it’s the part of the climb when you think you have finally made it, but you still have another half to go. Not to mention the HEAT. It is so hot here, we sweat like it’s our job (Sorry this is gross) I think I take. Bucket shower every day now. I am really going to miss them when I get home. Just kidding. I am going to miss the kids and the mountains though. I’m a baby as you know, so despite the tears already shed, I know more are coming. Tomorrow we get to meet the families of our kids from the village. I can’t wait! Also- Gulaabee is pink in Hindi.
Bryson- Happy Birthday bud! I’m so sorry I missed it but I promise I am bringing you back some cool trinkets. I love you. Stop growing up!!
Kallie and Taylor- I understand why you love this place so much. This experience is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I can’t wait to talk when we get home about these amazing kids and this awesome place.
Hailey- I hope you found a good ride to school and that you don’t miss me too much. (Let’s have a sleepover when I get home)
Mom and Dad- Thank you for your letters! They meant so much to me and I am so lucky to have such amazing parents like you. Thank you for letting me travel so far away and have this cool experience. It has been indescribable, and I am so excited to tell you all about it. I love you so much! I’m so happy! See you soon!
