"No Sad" - Emily Lewis

"No sad"

I love the YMAD girls!! They are all so sweet and super smart. They are so generous too! Like on Saturday we had a movie night where we watched Charlotte's Web. When they handed out some popcorn for the girls, they made sure we got some before they did. I love them! It was so sad when we had to say good bye on Monday. They are the sweetest girls and I love every single one of them. It was so fun to look at the pictures they have gotten from other expeditions. I was looking at one of theirs and saw a picture of my brother from two years ago! It's so cool that they remember the kids that came years ago! They are so thoughtful and Neha (my bff) wrote me the sweetest note. It was really hard to say goodbye.

Kajjar was so much fun! And we got to go with the YMAD girls which was a bonus! Emma Romney and I decided to splurge and pay to ride in the hamster balls down the hill. It was the funniest thing ever. Definitely worth the rupees. Then after that the YMAD girls did henna on us. They are like little Picassos. They are seriously so talented! For lunch they served us French fries! It was so good! So that was a really fun day! It was also nice to have a small break from teaching even though I missed my kids so much!

Today we had to say goodbye to the kids. I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it was. But definitely not my favorite day. We did have a lot of fun though! I brought some fun toys and pop rocks for the kids. It was so funny! We also gave them the supplies like the hygiene kits, school kits, backpacks, shoes, and some other things. It was amazing to see how excited they got over the small things we take for granted. I love all of the children of Dulla. When we finally had to say goodbye I don't think the kids fully understood. Of course I started crying. A few of the older girls wiped away my tears and said "no sad". But that just made me want to cry more. I hugged them as tight as I could and kept telling myself I'm going to come back. I hope we made a difference in their lives and I know for a fact they made a difference in mine. I'm so incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for the chance to love those kids as much as I do. It broke my heart to say goodbye but looking back, I wouldn't do anything differently. I can't believe it's already over! I can't wait to come home and tell my family all about my beautiful kids in Dulla! Love, Emily DiDi
