So So Grateful - Kate Thomas

The trip is ending!! It is starting to get sad.  It was our last day with the YMAD girls and in the schools.  It was very difficult to say goodbye to the girls and the kids.  It is crazy to think that I will never see their cute faces again.  Since this is my last blog I decided to write some things that India has made me so grateful for.

#1- A healthy body.  I have spent a bit of time being sick.  It has made me realize how amazing it is to have a healthy body.  I am so grateful that I feel healthy 99% of the time.  Today I felt back to normal and I was so grateful to have energy to play with the kids and say my goodbyes.  Being healthy is such a blessing and I need to remember to never take it for granted.

#2- The BEST family and friends. I am truly so blessed.  I have missed my family and friends, but I am so so grateful I have people in my life that I love enough to miss.  I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I have the best people in my life.

#3-A new perspective.  India has taught me a lot.  I now have a much simpler view on life.  The people here don’t spend time worrying about things that are irrelevant.  I am excited to go home and declutter my life.  I no longer want to waste my time on stuff that doesn’t matter, but rather spend my time helping people or laughing with the people I love.  Life is short-I want to make sure I spend my time on people/things I care about.

#4-A pretty Earth.  Chamba is one of the prettiest places I have ever been.  The mountains are huge! They make Mount Olympus look like a hill.  It is so green.  There is a blue river that runs through it.  I love the time spent in the car because I get to look out the window at the amazing views.  We are lucky to live on such a beautiful Earth.

#5- Opportunity.  I have been given so many opportunities in my life and I am still so young.  I see the people here who don’t have the same kinds of opportunities as I do, and I want so badly for them to be able to have more experiences.  I am grateful for the best parents who work so hard to make sure that I will be able to do things that will teach me important lessons and help me build character.

#6-Small Things. A lot of times the little things go unnoticed, and when we take the time to appreciate them will be so much happier. Some examples of small things are when you have a good pen, when jonah gave me his easy-mac so that I wouldn’t have to eat curry, when Allison rubs my hands, when I got my families notes, a good song, or a blanket that is hot from the dryer.  Sometimes the little things are what make us happiest.

I love and miss you all so so much!!!  I can’t wait to tell you all about my adventure and all my funny stories and I can’t wait to hear all about yours.  I am excited to see you in 5 quick days!! LOVE YOU ALL.
