Exciting New Destination for Operation Parivar!

October 7, 2019 - 2019: Operation Parivar

This past Sunday meeting was a big one! We got our duffel bags!! We began by packing our lessons and making sure they were all there and then we packed our humanitarian bags.

I can’t believe we are so close to going to India! This made it feel even more real and close!

We also found out some exciting news! We will not be going to Chamba. We will get to go to Raj’s home town, Kullu Manali India! Here are some fun facts about Kullu! It is one of the most popular hill stations in the country. “From museums to temples, from quaint little hippie villages to bustling upscale streets, river adventures to trekking trails, Manali has ever a reason to be the tourist magnet it is, all year round.”

The slopes are a very popular ski destination. It’s a “paragliding heaven.” A lot of people mountain bike in the mountains there as well.

Manali is a group of three hills, each one with a village and an old temple. The major languages spoken in Kullu Manali are Hindu, Himachali, and English. Many websites that I searched exclaimed how Kullu Manali is the perfect destination with adventure sports like mountaineering, trekking, and skiing.

Kullu Manali has many more attractions besides the scenery. There are many temples but one that is super famous is the Hadimba temple, which is dedicated to goddess Hidimba. There are also the Vashist hot water springs and more temples.

There is also the Great Himalayan national park and it’s located in the Kullu district! There are lots of animals there like musk deer, brown bear, snow leopard, and tons more. A lot of families in Kullu Manali have apple orchards and grow apples. You can go river rafting and paragliding as well.

This new place will be fun and exciting! I still can’t believe that we get to be in India and teach kids English! This will be a life-changing trip.
