Adorable and Precious – by Kylie Clinton

March 26, 2019 - 2019 Operation: Sapna

I’m so glad that we finished traveling because teaching one day has already made it all worth it! Driving to Jaguni was long and windy but incredible. It’s astounding to see how tall the mountains are and the colorful houses and blooming trees. After the drive ended the Red team was finally in our destination. We walked a bit to get to our school and saw some of the beautiful children on our way. It is a fairly small school but it has a good-sized courtyard. The nice spring weather tempted us to teach outside. The teachers weren’t initially aware that we were coming so there was a bit of an issue but solving that goes to our amazing translator Nidi! Eventually all the children showed up and we played a couple games, some failing, before they began their morning prayer routine. The teachers gave our team a formal welcoming by giving us lei-like necklaces and powder to put bindi on our foreheads. Our kids were split into class groups and we got started by introducing ourselves. We were blessed to have a polaroid to take pictures of the kids and write their names to help us learn them. Teaching the lessons was hard but very satisfying and fun. The kids are so adorable and precious. I love them all so much already! The kids have an obsession with all our cameras and took a ton of pictures on all of them. It was so cute when a couple girls would try to say “didi camera?” or “didi selfie?” to me because they love cameras and pictures so much. Saying goodbye today was sad because I already don’t want to ever leave them. Even though teaching wasn’t perfect at times it has been so worth it. I can’t wait for more experiences with teaching and learning from the wonderful kids in my village. I hope everyone is having a great week! -Kylie:)
