The Results-Adler Rigby

November 29, 2016 - 2016 Operation: Saktisali

Leaving the school today was one of the hardest things to experience.  I knew that it was going to be hard but I never thought that it would be this hard.  No words can possibly describe the love and connections I have for the these girls.  Yes, I’m still very excited to come home but at the same time if I had the chance to stay here forever with my girls I definitely would.  The girls that my group was assigned to teach were in class 8 which is the highest class at the school.  This means that the group that comes next fall won’t have the amazing opportunity to teach and get to know 20 of the amazing girls that I did and that makes me sad.  I don’t think that I have ever cried so hard in my entire life because I left a huge chunk of my heart with those girls today that I may never get to see again.  I am so thankful that I have had the amazing opportunity to teach these girls and they have taught me so much and I hope that I made as big of an impact on their lives as they did on mine.  It’s so amazing to look at them and see that they are so happy when they have so little; it really makes you look at your own life and think about how much we have and how little we show our appreciation for it.  One thing that I am not going to miss is the food.  I just want a big burger with some normal fries from McDonalds.  My biggest regrets on this trip were, not bringing any family pictures to give to the girls and not bringing a good camera.  I have made so many incredible memories that I will never forget and I hope to share them with so many people when I get home.  The worst part about teaching today was when a couple of the girls came running up to me with big smiles on their faces then asked, “See you tomorrow?” and as you told them no, watching the smiles drip off of their faces and tears begin to drip down their beautiful faces was so heart breaking and you could feel the physical pain that you knew they were feeling too.  It turns out that all of the Indian people at Nichtha think that ‘Nate the Great’ looks like Donald Trump… For all of you that don’t know, Nate HATES Trump so when he got the goodbye letter from Bumba he was soooooo excited to hear that.  All-in-all, I love India and there will always be a special place in my heart for these girls.  I love them.  I love them.  I love them.
