 Rupali, Age 12

Rupali, Age 12

Here is a brief description of Rupali, from our local representative in Chamba, India, Jitender. His english is amazing, and we are very grateful for the time and attention he gives to our girls.

“Rupali was a shy girl when she came with her mother. Her father Mr. Narender Kumar is a farmer living his native village Tukhar, 10 km far from Chamba town. She use to talk in local dialect and was not confident even in Hindi language. She was good enough in expressing her view when we asked her general questions. We found little spark inside her that she can perform better if she got chance.

Rupali belongs to a poor family which falls below poverty line.  Rupali have 4 sisters and 1 brother. The family is dependent upon agriculture income which is INR 30,000.00 annual. Educational background of family is also poor. Mr. Narender Kumar is 10th pass and mother can hardly write her name. The family is living in village and has 2 Bigha land for livelihood. The land is un- irrigated and located on hilly slope.

In new school, Rupali is changing rapidly. She is good in studies and getting attention of school teacher. She is developing confidence and working hard for change.  She is learning from surrounding and facilities at “House of Learning”. Now she use to speak in hindi and also improving English. ”
